The Personal MBA

Josh Kaufman was on the fast track to upper management at a Fortune 50 company. After several years, he quit his day job to work full time on his pet project, a website called ThePersonalMBA.com. Josh made it his mission to distill and extract the essential qualities of running and improving businesses from thousands of different books. On his site, he shares these concepts with the entire world and has released a new book on the topic.

I’m about 2/3 of the way through the book and recommend it highly. As a person considering an MBA in the future, I was impressed with the author’s strong argument against enrolling in a typical MBA program and instead pursuing self-education. The book takes a very encouraging and practical angle – it’s not necessary to obtain a high priced education or possess esoteric “business skills” in order to be successful. Anyone can learn fundamental business concepts and apply them to their daily tasks.
